Statement regarding LockBit claims

Earlier this morning we became aware of tweets from LockBit, the cyber-criminal gang, claiming that they had compromised Darktrace’s internal security systems and had accessed our data. Our security teams have run a full review of our internal systems and can see no evidence of compromise. None of the LockBit social media posts link to any compromised Darktrace data. We will continue to monitor the situation extremely closely, but based on our current investigations we are confident that our systems remain secure and all customer data is fully protected.

Darktrace, the leader in Enterprise Immune System technology, announces its partnership with leading Asia Pacific telecommunications company, Telstra. The company has selected Darktrace’s next-generation, cyber-threat detection technology to strengthen its internal security and defense strategy.

Headquartered in Melbourne, Australia, Telstra is the leading telecommunication services provider in the Asia Pacific region. It builds and operates telecommunication networks and markets a variety of products, including broadband internet, fixed and mobile phones, network services, digital television and other entertainment products.

With annual revenues of over AU$25 billion, a global workforce of over 36,000 people and a large customer base, the company prioritizes its cyber security as a key strategic challenge and opportunity. It wanted to embrace the latest technological innovations in the cyber security industry in order to benefit from enhanced understanding about its networks and better defense against emerging cyber-threats, both internal and external.

Telstra decided to deploy Darktrace’s award-winning Enterprise Immune System across its enterprise network, because of its unique capability to spot emerging abnormal behaviors in real time within the organization. Powered by machine learning and mathematics developed at the University of Cambridge, UK, Darktrace detects in-progress cyber-threats and alerts the organization. In addition, Darktrace’s Threat Visualizer enables rapid investigations, triages, response and risk mitigation, allowing Telstra to keep pace with a dynamic technical and business environment.

Darktrace appliances have been installed across Telstra’s enterprise data network. The Telstra discovery and security teams will use the distributed Darktrace Enterprise Immune System to achieve greater visibility of unusual behaviors and movement within the environment. The company will be able to investigate, respond and reduce the time to triage whilst minimizing potential impact.

“We are delighted to join forces with Darktrace to bring new, innovative technology to the cyber security challenge that all organizations are faced with,” said Mike Burgess, CISO Telstra. “Darktrace’s technology is unique in its ability to rapidly detect anomalous activity, irrespective of whether the behaviors are ‘known’ or ‘unknown’, as well as being able to visualize all network activity. By reducing the time to detect potential threats, Darktrace is strengthening Telstra’s internal security.”

“Darktrace and Telstra share a common vision for the future of cyber defense, based on understanding and knowing your organization better than your adversary and using next-generation machine learning to automate the process of subtle threat detection,” said Nicole Eagan, CEO, Darktrace. “We are proud to work with Telstra to further this goal, and bring adaptive, immune system defense to more sectors across Asia Pacific.”
