Statement regarding LockBit claims

Earlier this morning we became aware of tweets from LockBit, the cyber-criminal gang, claiming that they had compromised Darktrace’s internal security systems and had accessed our data. Our security teams have run a full review of our internal systems and can see no evidence of compromise. None of the LockBit social media posts link to any compromised Darktrace data. We will continue to monitor the situation extremely closely, but based on our current investigations we are confident that our systems remain secure and all customer data is fully protected.

Darktrace, the leader in Enterprise Immune System technology, has announced that it is conducting a tour of Tokyo, Seoul and Taipei this week, lead by The United States Department of Commerce.

Darktrace is one of a select group attending the official mission in East Asia and will introduce its pioneering ‘immune system’ technology to regional IT and critical infrastructure security leaders.

The trade mission comes at an important moment for Japan’s national security, as the country prepares for several major events including the G7 Summit this month, The Rugby World Cup in 2019 and the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2020. Darktrace founders have world-leading experience in protecting national infrastructure, having successfully secured the London Olympics in 2012 by detecting the indicators of threats early. Darktrace’s Enterprise Immune System applies the same principle to cyber security, by establishing normal patterns of behavior and identifying abnormalities to prevent network damage before it is too late.

With over 1,000 deployments across the world, and a recent recipient of the Queen’s Award for Enterprise, Darktrace works with a number of leading global companies such as BT, and has a strong presence in APAC with customers including telecommunications giant, Telstra, a major New Zealand bank and an Asian energy company. The company continues to develop rapidly in Asia, enabling more organizations to detect threats early using Darktrace’s unique machine learning technology.

Authorities in East Asia, including Japan, South Korea and Taiwan, are significantly increasing their resources to help protect organizations against today’s sophisticated cyber threats. By networking with government officials and thought leaders, Darktrace intends to strengthen links, increase its commercial presence and exchange valuable insights on state and private sector cyber security in the region.

“Increasing demands for cyber defense equipment and technology shows how cyber security is now a policy priority in East Asia,” said Nicole Eagan, CEO at Darktrace. “We are delighted to be participating in this trade mission and look forward to sharing our Enterprise Immune System with Japanese, South Korean and Taiwanese markets to help defend against today’s fast-moving threat.”
