Statement regarding LockBit claims

Earlier this morning we became aware of tweets from LockBit, the cyber-criminal gang, claiming that they had compromised Darktrace’s internal security systems and had accessed our data. Our security teams have run a full review of our internal systems and can see no evidence of compromise. None of the LockBit social media posts link to any compromised Darktrace data. We will continue to monitor the situation extremely closely, but based on our current investigations we are confident that our systems remain secure and all customer data is fully protected.

Darktrace, the world leader in machine learning technology for cyber defense, has today announced that it won two awards at Computing’s Security Excellence Awards in London last night, the ‘Enterprise Security Award’, and the ‘Cloud Security Award’ for the second year running. Additionally, James McGinnigle was named ‘CISO of the Year’ for his implementation of artificial intelligence cyber defense at Marshall Wace.

Computing’s Security Excellence Awards celebrate the achievements of the IT industry’s best security companies, solutions, products and personalities. An expert judging panel chose Darktrace’s Enterprise Immune System as the best enterprise-grade security solution on the market, sitting on the bleeding edge of security requirements. The judges also honored James McGinnigle, selecting him as the UK’s most effective security professional in recognition of his introduction of business-changing security concepts at Marshall Wace, including the Enterprise Immune System.

The Enterprise Immune System works by using artificial intelligence to learn an evolving baseline of ‘normal’ for every user and device in a network, and uses that understanding to detect and autonomously fight back against emerging cyber-threats. The technology works across all types of networks, including physical, virtualized and cloud environments.

We are very pleased to win the ‘Enterprise Security Award’ and the ‘Cloud Security Award’ at Computing’s Security Excellence Awards,” said Poppy Gustafsson, CEO EMEA, Darktrace. “Powered by machine learning and AI algorithms, the Enterprise Immune System has completely revolutionized cyber security for thousands of organizations across all industries. Our self-learning technology detects and autonomously responds to emerging cyber-threats in any part of the network, taking security teams out of the weeds and allowing organizations to spend their time and resources where they are really needed.”
